Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine is a diagnostic and therapeutic science founded by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still in the late 1800s.  Dr. Still was trained as and worked as a physician using the available treatments of the time, which were few.  After suffering severe personal loss when three of his daughters died of meningitis and another died of pneumonia Dr. Still decided that he would search for another way of approaching health and disease.  After extensive study of anatomy and physiology, he began practicing what he termed osteopathy
